Fans rally on Facebook for TimeSplitters 4

TimeSplitters 4 Facebook

In April, Crytek UK publicly stated that TimeSplitters 4 is "not in development," but that hasn't stopped fans from pressuring the company for the next game.

A group on Facebook called "100,000 Strong for Timesplitters 4" is trying to get the developers' attention "even if it means doing a Kickstarter."

Free Radical Design, now Crytek UK, started the first-person shooter series in 2000.

Pictures from E3 2012: Best of Booth Babes

While E3 is generally known to showcase some amazing upcoming games, it's also known to have drop dead gorgeous booth babes on display as well. This year however, there was a huge lack of booth babes. While they were still sprinkled throughout the show, you actually had to look out for them, rather than looking left, and then right, and seeing them in every direction.

With that said, here are our top pics of Booth Babes E3 2012

That outfit couldn't have been very comfortable, but at least it was damn pretty to look at.

She likes the whips and chains, or as I was led to believe by her costume.

We like free shirts! Even better when hot girls in uniforms shoot them out of a T-Shirt cannon!

Peripherals? Yes!

These Wushu girls might just kick your ass with their martial arts skills, or you know, it could all just be for show.

Oh PlanetSide 2 girl, I'd let you shoot me through the heart any day.

She was on a search for Dragon Balls, hope she found 'em!

Ubisoft girls were simple and effective, and honestly they had the best games to show off, so kudos!

Live long and prosper, does anything else need to be said?

These girls energized the crowd with their...energy drinks.

As usual, the lovely Jessica Nigri could be found parading in front of the Lollipop Chainsaw booth.

These ladies want to show you their dark side, or wait, was it Darksiders 2?

A celebration of Street Fighter and a celebration of booth babes.

Warren Spector speaks out against the 'ultraviolence' in games

Warren Spector

Epic Mickey designer Warren Spector believes we're too focused on violence in video games.

"The ultraviolence has to stop," he told GI.biz. "We have to stop loving it. I just don't believe in the effects argument at all, but I do believe that we are fetishizing violence, and now in some cases actually combining it with an adolescent approach to sexuality. I just think it's in bad taste. Ultimately I think it will cause us trouble."

Spector said he left Eidos in 2004 because of the overwhelming theme of violence he noticed in the company's line-up.

"We've gone too far," he said. "You know, Deus Ex had its moments of violence, but they were designed — whether they succeeded or not I can't say — but they were designed to make you uncomfortable, and I don't see that happening now. I think we're just appealing to an adolescent mindset and calling it mature."

The industry veteran also noticed an emphasis on Netflix and other non-gaming interfaces at E3 this year.

"When the games are the least interesting part, there's a problem," he said.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two launch date announced

Dynamic Disney duo Mickey and Oswald will be returning to the U.S. on November 18, 2012. Disney Interactive finally announced a release date for the much anticipated sequel Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.

The sequel to the popular Wii-exclusive will arrive in the U.K. on November 23, 2012.

“Our fans have told us how eager they are for a sequel to Disney Epic Mickey and I’m happy to be able to reveal the launch date for Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two,” said Junction Point creative director and vice president Warren Spector. “I think players are going to be excited by the new areas of the game being revealed at E3 where they will need to determine who their friends really are as they team up Mickey Mouse and Oswald to restore balance in Wasteland.”

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two takes what the original game did and improves upon it adding split-screen drop-in/drop-out co-op, fully voiced-over characters, original songs, and better control over the game's cameras (a big complaint about the first game).

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with more than 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions.  But for the first time, Mickey and Oswald will join forces as true partners - Mickey with the magical paint brush that allows him to wield paint and thinner, and Oswald with a powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity. It will be available for Xbox 360, PS3, and Nintendo Wii.

Cam Newton campaigns for Madden NFL 13 Cover

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took to YouTube today to campaign for his spot on the cover of Madden NFL 13.

In a final push to win the competition, Cam Newton didn't take the "nice guy" approach, pleading with fans to vote for him.  No sir, he took the cocky/confident approach and not only issued a challenge to rival cover athlete Calvin Johnson, but also challenged fans to a game of Madden as a livestreamed match.

Newton first called out Johnson: "My first challenge goes out to you, Mr. Megatron, Calvin Johnson.  If you are who you say you are and you want to be Mr. Madden 13, can you play Madden?"

Newton didn't stop there, however.  He went on to call out every Madden player.

"My next challenge is to you fans because I think my talents are so good, my thumbs are so official on the sticks that I will play anybody.  People who play me know the shirt is explanatory; fear no one.  These thumbs are official."

"I am an official Madden player.  This is a PSA to everybody who thinks they can play Madden.  Come play your boy, Ace Boogie."

Think you have what it takes to beat Cam Newton in a Madden NFL challenge?  All you have to do is follow these steps for your chance to partake in the Cam-paign Challenge:

That's all it takes!  Cocky or confident...or both?  Is this the guy you want on your Madden NFL 13 cover?  If so, head over to ESPN's SportsNation page and vote for either Cam Newton or Calvin Johnson to be on the cover of Madden NFL 13.  Voting ends on April 25th.

Game consoles now found in nearly half of American homes

A new report published by the Nielsen Cross-Platform has revealed that game consoles can now be found in 45% of American homes that also own a TV.  This is an increase of three percent over last year.

"Consoles have become strategically positioned as a secondary gateway to TV content," the report states.  "With Netflix and other streaming apps, Blu-ray players, social gaming and point of purchase seamlessly integrated into game consoles, it is no surprise that consumers are relying on their consoles to perform double (and triple) duty. These new activities are adding up and contributing to the growth of content consumption."

To be honest, this doesn't really come as a surprise to me.  Both Microsoft and Sony have been putting a tremendous emphasis on entertainment apps on their consoles.  In fact, in March Microsoft revealed that, for the first time, the amount of time average U.S. gamers spend on various Xbox 360 entertainment apps has surpassed the time spent playing games online through Xbox LIVE.  And with the average American watching nearly five hours of video each day, I don't think that number will decrease any time soon.

In an interesting note, Nielsen revealed that households without children are leading the way in new game console adoption which could demonstrate "that game consoles are appealing to a range of audiences for a variety of purposes."

Do you find yourself watching more video via your console or is Nielsen just full of it?

European Rune Factory trailer is pretty calming

Though Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny dropped in North America back in October, Europe is just now getting this quirky RPG adventure for themselves. To celebrate, Rising Star Games has released this rather attractive anime trailer for the game (now re-titled Rune Factory: Oceans). Not sure if this is the game's opening footage or what but... well, it's a pretty catchy tune. Not that we have any idea what it is that lady is singing about.

Maybe time to pick up a used copy of Tides of Destiny. Did you miss out on this quirky RPG?

Game info: Azel and Sonia are two lifelong friends enjoying a tranquil life on Finith island until they're struck by a mysterious curse. They awaken to find both of their souls trapped in the same body! On top of that, the Finith they knew is gone, and in its place is a strange island populated with unfamiliar faces. Only by exploring this new world will they be able to solve the mystery of this curse that has befallen them. In their quest, Azel and Sonia will be aided by a colorful cast of characters, and take command of the towering golem Ymir. Using Ymir, they'll cross vast seas, discover hidden islands, and battle fearsome monsters of the deep!

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse announced for Fall 2012

Giggity! Activision and Twentieth Century Fox are working together to bring Quahog to consoles.  Today, they announced Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse, a new interactive experience inspired by the popular TV show Family Guy.

Few details about the game were revealed, but Twentieth Century Fox president Jeffrey Godsick said Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse will "utilize the source material, including the voice cast and writers, authentic humor and subversive spirit of the series, giving fans a whole new way to interact with their favorite show."

"Fans of Family Guy will love that we've taken some of the series' most iconic and memorable moments and built them into an impressive and uncensored video game," said Activision's executive vice president David Oxford.  "Anyone who watches the show will appreciate how much we have adhered to its rich and twisted universe and characters."

More details about the game, like specific platforms or actual gameplay, should be announced in the "near future".  Fox and Activision did say that they intend to "tap into the core components of the Family Guy spirit".

EA details 'revolutionary' changes for FIFA 13

Electronic Arts today unveiled five "game-changing" innovations coming to this year's highly anticipated FIFA 13.

“We are perfecting the best sports game in the world with innovations that capture all the drama and unpredictability of real-world football,” said David Rutter, Executive Producer for FIFA 13. “These are game-changing innovations that will revolutionize our artificial intelligence, dribbling, ball control and collisions to create a true battle for possession across the entire pitch, and deliver freedom and creativity in attack.”

Leading these sophisticated artificial intelligence changes include an all-new Attacking Intelligence.  This enables players to "analyze space, work harder and smarter to break down defenses".  The ability to create, curve, or alter runs to capitalize on openings, make runs that pull defenders out of position to open passing channels, and better position yourself for new opportunities will now all be possible in FIFA 13.

EA also claims to have the "most comprehensive and intuitive dribbling system ever created"in FIFA 13 thanks to a new Complete Dribbling feature that enables you to face your opponent and use precise dribble touches combined with true 360 degree mobility with the ball.  Players will change direction quicker, are more explosive accelerating with the ball, and are more effective shielding defenders for the longer stretch.

FIFA 13 1st Touch Control will transform the way you control the ball, eliminating near-perfect touch for every player on the pitch, and creating variety and uncertainty around ball control.  Factors such as defensive pressure, trajectory of the ball, and velocity of the pass now impact a player’s first touch, creating more opportunities for defenders to win back possession.

FIFA 13 will also introduce the second generation of the impressive Player Impact Engine.  It expands physical play from just collisions to off-the-ball battles between players.  Defenders push and pull for position, and use their size and strength to win possession or force opponents into poor touches and decisions before the ball arrives.

FIFA 13 Tactical Free Kicks provides the tools to create dangerous and unpredictable free kicks utilizing the most skillful players on the pitch. Position up to three attacking players over the ball and utilize dummy runs and more passing options to create elaborate free kicks. Opponents can counter by adding or subtracting players to the wall, creeping the wall forward, or sending a bullet man to intercept the pass or block the shot.

Other features include:

FIFA 13 will be available this Fall for PS3, Xbox 360, PS Vita, Wii, PC, Nintendo 3DS, iOS devices, and PSP, along with other mobile devices.

Activision's Battleship video game available today

As much as I'm not looking forward to this film, the Battleship video game from Activision is available today, and it actually looks pretty entertaining.

Taking a hybrid approach, Battleship combines military strategy and fast-paced first-person action gaming as you take control for a powerful naval fleet.  Trapped in a "dome" of alien-terror, its up to you to commandeer real-world naval vessels against alien invaders across across land, sea, and air in this re-envisioned version of Battleship.

"With numerous gaming platforms available today, it is important to showcase Battleship on many different levels," added Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Marketing at Hasbro.  "The new Battleship is the perfect medley that both strategic and action-junkie gamers will fall in love with."

"Working with the legendary Battleship property, and the new epic action-adventure from Universal Pictures, we felt it was important to capture some of the cinematic drama while allowing players to experience the action from a unique perspective," said Activision Publishing's David Oxford, . "We want both movie-goers and gamers of all ages to dive into an all new, fun Battleship experience."

In Battleship for PS3 and Xbox 360, you will play as Cole Mathis, a first class Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician.  Using killer-combat instincts you must utilize an arsenal of weapons and deploy air strikes and radar sweeps to dominate the battlefield.

In the Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and DS versions, you control a wide variety of naval units in a turn-based combat system with a team of specialized commanders.  different play modes to choose from, including Story and quick-battle Skirmish, players will unlock new maps, units, and leaders to turn the tide of battle.

Will you be getting this game?

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power Of Two Behind the Scenes

Go behind the scenes of the upcoming sequel to Epic Mickey, with Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. This time, the game will be available on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, as well as the Wii. A big addition of course this time around is the inclusion of a drop in drop out co-op, where the other player will assume the role of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

"Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two" returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions. But for the first time, Mickey and Oswald will join forces as true partners - Mickey with his magical paint brush that allows him to wield paint and thinner, and Oswald with his powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity.

Madden NFL 13 will have 'Tebowing' and other celebrations

At a time when the NFL is cutting back on celebrations, EA Sports is emphasizing it in Madden NFL 13.  It's all part of creating the most authentic sports experience, EA says.

NBA 2K13 slated for Oct. 2, 2012 release

Although we're smack dab in the middle of some heated NBA playoffs, Take-Two Interactive has revealed a target release date of NBA 2K13.  Although no details about NBA 2K13, set to release on October 2, 2012, were revealed, Take-Two's report showed that it will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, and PC.

Take-Two didn't detail any features of NBA 2K13, instead focusing on the accomplishments of this year's NBA 2K12, which delivered the top ranked and top selling basketball video game for the 11th year in a row.  Despite the challenges of the NBA lockout, NBA 2K12 sold over five million units, for the second year in a row.

Looking forward, it's not hard to see that 2K will attempt to build upon the success of NBA 2K12 which was the first in the basketball series to offer downloadable add-on content and a mobile version for iOS.  I fully expect them to focus on DLC and online play heading into NBA 2K13.  Expect to see even more emphasis on NBA Legends because, well, we can't get enough Michael Jordan.

NBA 2K13 October release confirmed

As we expected NBA 2K13, the next installment of 2K Games' top-rated NBA video game, will be released on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in North America.  It will be released on October 5, 2012 internationally.

2K Games announced that it will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC during October, with a later launch planned for the Wii U.

Fans who pre-order NBA 2K13 for Xbox 360 or PS3 will receive a new downloadable NBA All-Star content package.

"This add-on content will be set in Houston, the site of the 2013 NBA All-Star Game and will allow fans to stage their own NBA All-Star Game, including three NBA All-Star events - the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout, BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest featuring all-new intuitive, pick-up-and-play controls," the description reads.

"Gamers can pit the NBA’s current superstars against classic players in both the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout and Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. Rosters for both the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge and 2013 NBA All-Star Game will feature the 2012 All-Stars, with dynamic updates to the 2013 rosters once the participants are announced."

Those who pre-order NBA 2K13 will receive the NBA All-Star content on day one at no extra cost.  It's assumed that those who wait will have to purchase the DLC separately for a cost.
